WASHINGTON – Congresswoman Mary Miller (R-IL) became the United States Representative for Illinois’ 15th congressional district today upon taking the oath of office with the other members of the 117th Congress.

“Today I took an oath to support and defend the Constitution of the United States – something I do not take lightly,” Miller said. “Our constitutional rights to freely assembly, practice our faith and the right to bear arms are under assault. I will fight to preserve our First and Second Amendment rights and work to make government less intrusive in our daily lives. I’ll continue the good work President Trump has done to restore the greatness of America on the global stage. His America First vision is the right vision for our nation. There is a lot of work to do and I am ready to get started.”

Some of Miller’s top priorities include putting people back to work, promoting Illinois agriculture, reforming healthcare, and protecting the southern border.

“There are many families in my district hurting right now because of the government-mandated lockdown of the economy,” Miller said. “We need to open our economy and get people working again. Real, workable solutions are necessary to make healthcare more affordable. We must continue to fund the southern border wall to keep our nation safe. My focus will be on putting America first.”

Miller also said she will stand up to the radical socialist policies of Nancy Pelosi and Alexandria Ocasio Cortez.

“The Green New Deal and Medicare for All are real policy objectives of the radical left,” Miller said. “They want to fundamentally change our country from a Constitutional Republic to a socialist state that controls every aspect of our lives. The citizens of the 15th district can count on me to oppose these radical policies and to stand up for the values we share.”

Miller joins 45 new Republican members elected to the House for the 117th session of Congress. She was elected on Nov. 3, 2020 to represent the 15th congressional district, which includes all of 29 counties and parts of four counties.
