Illinois Association of School Boards Terminates its Membership with the National School Boards Association

November 19, 2021

WASHINGTON - Congresswoman Mary Miller (IL-15) led a letter this week with members of the Illinois Congressional delegation urging the Illinois Association of School Boards to withdraw from the National School Boards Association. Last night, the Illinois Association of School Boards announced that they will be terminating their membership from the National School Boards Association effective immediately.

"I believe that Illinois parents and families should play a central role in their children’s education, not the federal government," said Miller. "I was inspired to write this letter to the Illinois Association of School Boards by the NSBA’s letter to the Biden Administration earlier this year. Parents should NEVER be treated as domestic terrorists for showing up at school board meetings to advocate for their kids."

"I am happy to be joined by some of my Illinois colleagues Rep. Bost, LaHood and Davis," Miller said. "We must empower the role of parents in their children’s education and I am thrilled that the Illinois Association of School Boards will withdraw from the National School Boards Association!"
