REP. MARY MILLER VOTES AGAINST DEMOCRATS' RADICAL SPENDING BILL

March 9, 2022

WASHINGTON - Congresswoman Mary Miller (R-IL) released the following statement upon voting NO for reckless spending from House Democrats.

"Democrats rammed through a 2,741 page, $1.5 trillion spending bill that cuts America’s border security funding and pushes pro-China “Green New Deal” policies instead of increasing American energy production during the Biden fuel crisis.

The Democrats’ spending bill includes gun control provisions, increases funding for the IRS, and provides $286 million in Title X funding that can flow to Planned Parenthood. Democrats also included offensive earmarks for gender transition services funded by taxpayers and provisions that will force domestic violence shelters for women to house men who identify as women.

As a farmer, I know the biggest challenges facing farmers right now are record fuel prices, fertilizer costs doubling, and the supply chain crisis. Instead of addressing these issues, Democrats are funding the Department of Agriculture to “confront the climate crisis” and “advance racial justice,” using taxpayer dollars to fund a woke political agenda instead of preventing the coming food crisis.

I voted in support of the national security bill funding a pay raise for our troops and providing aide for Ukraine, but against the omnibus spending bill because I will not vote for any bill that contains gun control, grants for Planned Parenthood, or taxpayer-funded gender transition. Americans deserve a spending bill that puts America First by securing our border and putting us back on a path to energy independence, which was achieved during the Trump Administration."
